Midwest Gear was founded in 1972 to serve OEM customers in the eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania area. Today, most of our customers are still OEM's but our customers are located across the USA.
Our shop has added a CNC Hofler Nova 1000 Gear Grinder this past year which brings to 5 the number of grinders available for grinding up to 70" OD, 1 NDP and 21.65" face. Hard copy charts are available from the Nova 1000 and our Hofler gear checker for gears from AGMA Class 9 to 14.
Most of our customers purchase gears and pinions made complete but services are also available to cut teeth and grind teeth only. We have gear manufacturing customers who either have no grinding capabilities or are not able to match the sizes at Midwest Gear.
We have a complete compliment of gear hobbers and shapers for producing almost every type of spur and helical gears up to 100" diameter. The capabilities also include a 100" shaper for cutting large diameter internal or external ring gears.
Reverse engineering services are available for customers who do not have manufacturing drawings. In most cases, we are able to duplicate the raw material, design and heat treatment of the sample parts.
Although many of our customers order in sizable quantities, our production staff is set up to handle small quantities to as little as one piece. We also offer emergency service when required.
