Fig. 1 one demonstrates a conventional work flow method of heat treating, which can be unpredictable, hard to duplicate, and problematic.
Fig. 2 shows a better method, in which a heat treat job is run through simulation software to define the exact ratios of time, temperature, and gas mixture required to meet certifications before the gears are processed.
