This graph shows a plot of the measured shear stress values of the ISF tapered roller bearings along a 0.2 mm length of the tapered roller bearing’s contact area.11 Note that the high stress location is at a subsurface depth of 0.076 mm and that the surface stress values are < 0.45 GPa.
